Renovation Update #2 July 1, 2023
Dear Members,
We are excited to announce that the project has officially started. Our YMCA
has raised enough funding to start our first Phase of the renovation (Phase A).
The Improvement Committee, Board of Directors and Staff have worked
closely with our Architects (SV Design), Contractors (Groom Construction).
Engineers (Hancock Associates), Work Project Manager (Gienapp Architects),
Town of Danvers and Mass Development to start Phase 1 the week of July
10th.
As mentioned in my last email sent in April – The project will be a 1 year
project that will focus on upgrading the following:
NEW Childcare Bathrooms
NEW Youth Center bathrooms
Childcare Upgrades
Relocating the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms
Adding a Family Changing room
NEW Lounge area with Food Kiosk
NEW Cardio Equipment Upgrades
Pool Upgrades
Child Watch (babysitting room)
ADA accessibility improvements
Plumbing, HVAC and electrical upgrades.
The committee strongly feels that breaking the projects into phases will not
inconvenience our programs and facility accessibility. This will not have an
impact our Childcare, Programs or Activities.
Our facility will remain open during renovation. Here are some logistics to
accessibility in the building. Starting July 10 th and during the next 6 months
the following will take place:
Cardio Center: Will be accessible from the back parking lot and through
side entrance of the Cardio room. Members that use the Cardio Center
will have designated parking and entrance to the Cardio Center
Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms: Will be accessible thru the pool
area. The elevator in the lounge area will also be available.
Fundraising:
The Danvers YMCA Capital Campaign is the reason why we can do what we
do. We have received a number of funding through grants, pledges and
fundraising. We still have additional money that we need to raise for Phase B.
Please consider helping us support this cause by making a donation. Our
YMCA is considered an asset to the Danvers Community. We offer many
services that benefit all: Childcare, Safety Around Water, Youth
Development, Summer Camps, Youth Center, Youth Employment, Senior
Actives, Wellness Classes, Cardio/Wellness, Instructional classes (First
Aid/CPR/Lifeguarding), Blood Drives, Cancer Support, FREE community
classes, Parkinson’s Programs, Arts, Financial Aid, Camperships, Blood
Pressure Support, and much more.
Coming Soon – Project Kickoff Ceremony
Thank you for being part of our Y family!
Sincerely,
John Somes
