We especially appreciate your willingness to sign on as a partner with the Board of Health and allow your site to be a back-up Emergency Dispensing Site. Judith will be in touch soon to review the parameters of this critical public health emergency function.
In sum, congratulations on your appointment as the Director and welcome back to the Danvers Y in this new capacity! I’m thankful for the opportunity to work with you.

My wife and I want to thank you for the awesome job that you and your team did at the Family Cookout. The food was good and it was great to have a nice afternoon wit such good weather. We are both “newcomers” to your community and appreciate the warmth and kindness that members of your staff have put forth. We joined the Y to enhance and improve the quality of our healthy and rehabilitate our aging bodies. Being retired our life goes in small circles now and we have learned to lower or expectations of what we can achieve for ourselves, the Y has changed that for us, and we are again growing. We look forward to growing and improving life style, and a big thank you goes out to you and your team..
*Benjamin’s Mom says: Benjamin has been taking lessons over the summer with Annie. He is 5 almost 6. I just wanted to let Colleen know what an amazing job she has done with him! I”m at work during this time so my mother usually takes him to lessons and she said yesterday she watched Ben through the doors an his last summer lesson swim almost the entire length of the pool with no noodle and then jump off the diving board with no noodle and swim to the ladder. Our family is so impressed by all the progress he made with her.
We will be signing up for the next session of classes along with his sisters. I have been so impressed with your program..
*From Helen: I am very happy with my Y experience. When I attend Water Aerobics and Water Walking with Jennifer I feel great and recommend it to others. I also love Tuesday Gentle Yoga with Kat. I find she has just the right mix of gentleness and power, addressing the physical and the spiritual, good information and accessibility.
*Jake says: The YMCA offers many things for people of all ages and fitness levels
Mary says: I find this Y an asset to our town. It is user friendly, the pool is open when I need it, staff in the pool are friendly and attentive (important to me because I’m a fair swimmer). The cardio room has enough machines so I never have to wait or feel rushed when I am on. Front desk staff are welcoming. The facility is clean. The monthly fee is reasonable…actually a good deal for what you get.
*TomJoy says: YMCA Danvers Staff are very respectable, helpful and intentionally kind to the kids and adutls.
*Thanks to the “Y”………..
After being attacked at our home by someone that we know, my son (who’s 8) and I didn’t know where to turn or what to do with myself. I remembered going to the “Y” once before, so I decided to give it another try. I applied for financial aid (but the way things were going I figured I wouldn’t be accepted) but to my surprise (and constant appreciation), I was accepted. I started going to the cardio center and as I got stronger I started participating in classes. I’ve lost 32lbs but gained confidence in myself. My son saw the difference in me and wanted to come to the “Y” also, he has fun, and went down a notch in his belt. He sees and gets to take part in a healthy and social environment.
Thanks to the “Y” our home is literally a happy and healthy home.
*More Confident in the Water…….
I joined the Y in 1998 after experiencing a bad car accident. I had dislocated my hip and swimming was recommended. However, I can’t swim?? I started floating in the deep end with a belt on then decided I could do laps providing I wore a floatation belt, flippers, goggles and a nose clip. Carol, Ruby and Cathy constantly encouraged me to keep swimming. I finally was able to give up the belt although I still wear the flippers, goggles and nose clip. I continued to work out at the “Y” lifting weights, taking a few classes and playing racquetball. I took a part-time job in 2002 and have been here ever since. The “Y” is truly a community organization. I enjoy greeting people and showing them around the cardio-fitness room.
The “Y” is a welcoming place that offers something for everyone and I’m glad to be a small part of it.
*Wonderful Opportunity…….
The “Y” for me is so much more than a gym- it’s my family, my friends, and my community. I have been truly blessed to be embraced by my “Y” family.
Thank you so much for your support and for having me do something that I truly love(teaching classes)..
