Dear Members,

I am excited to announce some exciting news.  Our Board of Directors has recently approved the 2nd phase of the Y renovation.  Starting in August 2026 our YMCA is looking to add a $1M addition to our Lounge area that will be directly connected to our pool and will offer an additional 1100 sqft of community space, viewing area of the pool, easy access to the pool with a new entrance, and an activity room.  We are also renovating the upper men’s locker room by converting the space into shared recreational area.  The space will be used for adult classes, summer camp, childcare, yoga, and other recreational activities.  The Y will also complete the fire protection/sprinkler system throughout the building.

During a recent Improvement Committee conference, Board President, Richard Vincent, who is also a active member, said he knows firsthand how important the institution and this project is to the community.

Past Board President, Cheryl Macdonald said, “This is where I learned to swim as a kid,”. “This is where my children learned and now my grandchildren are learning to swim.”

Phase 1 of the project involved many improvements that included: Childcare classroom with complete renovations with new bathrooms, upgraded Youth Center, NEW Men’s and Women’s locker rooms as well as a Family/Universal Locker room.  ADA improvements and elevators, HVAC and Heating improvements, Child watch room, lounge, Food Kiosk and NEW reception area with security improvements throughout the building.  Improvements to the Aquatic and Cardio Centers have also had several enhancements.

Moving onto Phase 2: The Danvers YMCA is looking to add a 1,100 Sqft wrap around lounge are that will include a function room and viewing areas of the pool.  Also, this new addition will add social and recreational space to our current lounge area and allow easier access to the pool.  Additionally, the Y will complete the Fire Protection/Sprinkler System and other code requirements.  Lastly, we will be adding an additional 3,000 square feet of shared space that will be used for childcare, swim team, recreational activities, Yoga and other adult classes.

We are thankful and pleased to be working directly with our supportive Board of Directors, RC Griffin, SV Design, and our supporters.
